The white and green budgies in nest box two are now raising 6 chicks. I reckon I can see the coloured feathers replacing the down on the eldest chick. If you want to take any guess at its colour you don’t have much time left now.
The last generation of chicks have been moved out into the juveniles avery and there are 11 birds in there now.
The pair of silver quail on the floor of the cage have had six chicks and inspite of extensive care one chick died. I believe this was the chick that was attacked by one of the older chicks. the three older chicks were moved to an avery of their own.
Three of chicks from the clutch before those went to a new home and a female was kept here. A male was introduced from an outside source and she attacked it. He was put in a cage of his own in the same avery but on his release she decided to attack him again. This time she was placed in the cage. She has now been released and there is some harmony between them now. These are on the floor of the juvenile avery.
There are 6 or 7 eggs in nest box 3 and eight eggs in nest box 4. The couple in 4 raised 8 chicks last time round. Wonder if they will do that again.
